# Mission: Preaching a Philippians Series for Next Testament

## Why
Our congregation of ~40 working adults needs more than head knowledge — we need to become a people who know Christ deeply, live out the gospel in daily life, and share the joy of Christ with one another and with pre-believers. Philippians is the perfect letter for this: it's relational, practical, and saturated with joy in suffering. I want to preach through it expository-style over 10-12 weeks, giving the congregation a clear path from knowing → living → sharing.

## Success looks like
- A cohesive 10-12 session expository preaching series outline that works for Sunday mornings
- Each session has a clear main idea, structure, application questions, and small group discussion prompts
- The series moves the congregation beyond information to transformation — they can articulate not just what Philippians says, but how it changes how they live and witness
- I have a reusable sermon prep framework I can use for future series
- Preaching notes and illustrations ready for each session by end of prep

## Constraints
- Weekly Sunday morning cadence (40 mins sermon)
- Working adult congregation with limited prep time between services
- Preaching starts January 2027 — prep time available now
- Brethren/evangelical tradition — expository, text-driven preaching
- 10-12 sessions to cover all 4 chapters of Philippians
- I'm preparing alone (not co-preaching)

## Out of scope
- Detailed Greek word studies (keep it accessible)
- Academic or critical commentary debates
- Colossians (the David Murray devotional covers both, but the series is Philippians-only)
- Topical series design — this stays expository, verse-by-verse through the letter
