## User preferences

- **Goal:** Devotional growth (not exegesis, not teaching prep, not writing a devo).
- **Familiarity:** Familiar with the book — knows famous passages (Phil 4:13, 4:6-7) but not the whole flow. Don't over-cover the famous verses in isolation; anchor them in context.
- **Pace:** Short daily lessons — one passage or concept at a time, completable in a few minutes.
- **Framework:** Christian devotional.

- Pauline authorship: universally attested, among least-disputed Pauline epistles.
- Date: ~AD 60–62, likely near end of Roman imprisonment; possibly last of the 4 Prison Epistles.
- Provenance: Rome most likely (Ephesus/Caesarea proposed by some).
- Occasion: thank-you for gift via Epaphroditus; address disunity; warn vs. false teachers; encourage amid persecution.
- Themes: joy (referenced ~16x), gospel partnership (koinonia), humility/Christ-hymn (2:5-11), surpassing worth of knowing Christ, heavenly citizenship.
