# 4 Chair Discipling — Resources

## Knowledge

### Primary sources (local — the canon for this workspace)
- [Book: _4 Chair Discipling_ — Dann Spader (Moody, 2014)](./Source/4Chair/)
  The full text, chapter by chapter, in `./Source/4Chair/`. **This is the primary source.** Each lesson should cite the chapter it draws from. Chapters: 01 Origins · 02 Humanity of Jesus · 03 Mission & Motive · 04 Method overview · 05 Chair 1 · 06 Chair 2 · 07 Chair 3 · 08 Chair 4 · 09 Nine Sticking Points (Mark 4) · 10 Barriers (John 15) · 11 Full-Orbed Disciple-Making · Appendices.
- [_The Four Challenges of Jesus_ — short summary ebook](./Source/4ChallengesofJesus_EBook.md)
Compressed one-page-per-challenge overview. Use for: the master "four chairs" table and quick recall.
- [4 Chair Discipling — Small Group Guide](./Source/4Chair_SmallGroupGuide.md)
Discussion questions per chapter. Use for: application prompts, sermon discussion-group questions, "turn around and teach" exercises.

### Supplementary (context, not canon for this book)
- [Disciple-Making Movements (DMM) field guide](./Source/PDF-DMM_2021.03.08_Update-dv4dqd.md)
Practitioner field manual on DMM/CPM approaches. Use sparingly — it is a *different* model (DBS, person-of-peace, generational mapping) that overlaps with but is not Spader's framework. Useful only when comparing modern disciple-making practice.

### Scripture (always verify here)
The book's backbone is a handful of passages. Every lesson should let the reader open these:
- **The 4 challenges:** John 1:39; John 1:43; Matt 4:19 (= Mark 1:17); John 15:16.
- **The mandate:** Matt 28:18–20 (Great Commission) + Matt 22:37–40 (Great Commandment).
- **Stages of growth:** 1 John 2:12–14 (children / young men / fathers).
- **Fruit levels:** John 15:1–8 (no fruit → fruit → more fruit → much fruit).
- **Sticking points:** Mark 4:3–20 (Parable of the Soils); Isaiah 28:23–29 (CPR: cultivate/plant/reap).
- **Chronology keys:** Luke 1:3 ("orderly account"); the ~18-month and ~2.5-year markers for Jesus's ministry.
- [BibleGateway](https://www.biblegateway.com) — multi-translation lookup (book frequently references ESV, NIV, NLT, NASB).

## Wisdom (Communities)

*To be populated with the user.* Candidate communities for a teacher/preacher working out this material:
- A preaching peer group or pastors' cohort where sermons/Bible studies are workshopped.
- Sonlife / [Global Youth Initiative](https://gogyyi.org) network (Spader's own ministry lineage) — practitioners of this exact model.
- A local small group with whom the user can *field-test* a chair teaching before preaching it.

> Status: user has not yet indicated community preference. Ask before recommending.
